UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — King James is playing second fiddle to the Greek Freak in the first returns of NBA All-Star voting.
We can assure you Greek Freak is a complimentary nickname for the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, currently the overall leader in fan voting for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
According to numbers released Jan. 4, Antetokounmpo leads LeBron James by about 7,300 votes.
The 6-foot-11 Athens native is called the Greek Freak because he’s freakishly athletic and talented. And if his lead in the fan vote holds, he’ll also be an All-Star team captain.
Under the game’s new format, the top vote getter from each conference will get to pick his team from a pool of All-Stars.
Antetokounmpo and James both play in the East. Over in the West, Golden State Warriors teammates Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are leading the fan vote.
Voting continues through Jan. 15. All-Star captains and starters will be revealed three days laters.
