UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A train carrying Republican members of Congress hit a truck, killing at least one person.
The accident happened on Jan. 31 in Crozet, VA, about 126 miles southwest of Washington D.C.
Republican Congress members and their families were headed to a legislative retreat in West Virginia when their train collided with a garbage truck.
House Speaker Paul Ryan and his family were on board, and they were not injured.
A few minor injuries were reported on the train, though.
Rep. Jason Lewis told Fox News he suffered whiplash and “maybe a tiny bit of a concussion.”
USA Today reports Rep. Chuck Fleischmann was thrown off his feet when they hit the truck, causing neck, back and foot injuries.
Fleischmann said he’s “in a whole lot of pain.”
One other person was seriously injured in the accident.
