UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A former Colorado couple sank everything they owned into a boat, which also sank.

Tanner Broadwell and Nikki Walsh, both in their mid-20s, recently sold everything they owned and bought a 28-foot sailboat.

They named it the Lagniappe (a Creole word meaning a little something extra) and planned on sailing it around the Caribbean.

But the Lagniappe failed to live up to its name. It capsized and flooded a day after they set sail from Florida’s Gulf Coast.

They managed to grab some important documents and get their 2-year-old pug Remy to safety. Otherwise, everything this couple had washed away with the tide.

Walsh launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money to remove the boat from its watery resting place, and within days, it exceeded her $10,000 goal.

Anything left over will be used to buy a new boat. After all, their dreams may have sank, but they’re not giving up on them.
