UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Team USA halfpipe snowboarder, Chloe Kim, wins Olympic gold and realizes the American dream in one fell swoop, spin and a flip.

Kim, 17, was born in California after her parents migrated to the states from South Korea.

Following Kim’s Olympic gold win on Feb. 13, her father told reporters Kim is his American Dream. He quit his job to help his daughter become a snowboarding superstar and now it has paid off.

The American Dream is the ideal that every U.S citizen has an equal opportunity to achieve success.

In South Korea, however, school work is traditionally favoured over sporting activities. Kim’s win attracted the attention of Koreans on social media, who questioned if Kim would have won Olympic gold if her parents had stayed in Korea.

Kim dedicated her win to her family and the emotional story has captured the hearts of people all over the world.
