UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Republicans in the U.S. House Intelligence Committee have ended their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Republican committee members released a document stating, “We have found no evidence of collusion, coordination, or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.”
The document confirms Republican committee members believe Russia interfered in the 2016 election.
However, the document says there’s no evidence Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Trump to win, or that the Trump campaign worked with Russia to sway the election in his favor.
Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee, called the committee’s investigation incomplete.
Schiff said, “The majority has placed the interests of protecting the president over protecting the country.”
The Republicans’ report has been sent to the Democratic members of the committee for review and comment.
Meanwhile, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election meddling continues.
