UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Two doctors in India have been suspended after a patient’s severed limb was being used to prop his head up at an Uttar Pradesh hospital.
The incident happened on March 10 at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College and Hospital in Jhansi.
The patient, a 28-year-old man named Ghanshyam, was brought to the medical college after a bus accident in Mauranipur.
The accident severed one of Ghanshyam’s legs.
According to Ghanshyam’s family and relatives, hospital staff ignored their requests to get him a pillow as he laid on a stretcher.
The Hindustan Times reports Ghanshyam’s mother told authorities a doctor then put the severed leg under his head.
The principal of the medical college, Dr. Sadhna Kaushik, said a four-member committee has been formed to investigate who was responsible.
She also noted Ghanshyam’s severed leg could not be reattached due to the tissue being “already dead.”
