UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — The Trump administration plans to require foreigners seeking visas to enter the U.S. to hand over their social media histories.
The State Department announced on March 29 that applicants for immigrant and nonimmigrant visas could be required to disclose the social media handles they have used on various platforms over the past five years.
The proposal, however, is not yet official. The public has 60 days to comment on the suggested change before it is considered by the Office of Management and Budget at the White House.
Also on Thursday, The Trump administration said that it will no longer automatically release pregnant immigrants, who are in the country illegally, from detention centers.
Since 2016, pregnant women have been granted special consideration and released from detention while their cases make their way through immigration court.
