UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Philippine fast food giant Jollibee has opened its first location in Toronto, Canada.

The restaurant located in Scarborough Plaza opened on Sunday, April 1 to long lines of hungry customers.

The Toronto location is the third Jollibee restaurant in Canada with two others located in Winnipeg.

JFC Group President for North America, Jose Minana said the fast food chain had planned to come to Toronto but waited for the best possible location.

Minana told the Toronto Star, Jollibee looks for a strong Filipino presence when selecting locations but noted, “it’s for anybody to enjoy.”

Based on data from the 2016 Canadian census, over 837,000 Filipinos live in the country.

After the Toronto opening, Jollibee plans to open more Canadian restaurant locations including in Edmonton and Mississauga.
