UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — The trade war between China and the U.S. continues to escalate, as President Donald Trump has threatened an additional $100 billion of tariffs against Beijing.
Trump, in a statement on April 5, said that he was considering another wave of steep tariffs on Chinese exports to the United States in light of what he called “China’s unfair retaliation.”
China, in response on Friday, vowed to fight the U.S. and defend its interests “at any cost.”
Earlier this week, the Trump administration unveiled a list of $50 billion worth of Chinese products that could be hit with stiff tariffs.
Beijing responded almost immediately, announcing plans to impose duties on $50 billion in U.S. products.
Trump has repeatedly defended his tariff proposals, saying they’re in response to improper trade practices and intellectual property theft by China.
