UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Hundreds of people were injured in Gaza as Palestinian protesters demonstrated for a third straight week along the border fence between Gaza and Israel.
As many as 10,000 Palestinians protested at the Israel-Gaza border on April 13, marking the third consecutive week of demonstrations.
The protests, dubbed “The March of Return,” have led to violent confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli troops.
The Israel Defense Forces said that the protesters attempted to damage security infrastructure with firebombs and an explosive device.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, a 28-year-old Palestinian man was killed Friday by Israeli live fire from across the border fence, while another 528 Palestinians were hurt.
In all, 34 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the demonstrations began last month.
Israeli officials said that they will continue policing the border and that any person who attempts to breach the fence will be shot.
