UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Toronto authorities have charged Bruce McArthur with his eighth count of first-degree murder.
The lead investigator in the case announced April 16, the victim was 37-year-old Kirushna Kumar Kanagaratnam.
McArthur, a 66-year-old Canadian landscaper, was first arrested in January and over the last few months, the allegations against him have rapidly increased. However, he is yet to enter a plea.
Kanagaratnam’s remains were found in plant pots, like the other victims, on the grounds of a property McArthur used to store his landscaping materials.
Police believe he was killed in late 2015, but he was not reported missing. He moved to Canada from Sri Lanka in 2010 and police say he is the first victim not to fit the profile of McArthur’s other alleged victims.
McArthur allegedly targeted men in Toronto gay bars and on gay dating apps. One of his other alleged victim’s was reportedly an ex-boyfriend.
