UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — An Australian fisherman performed a cesarean section on a pregnant dead shark.

Mathew Orlov can be seen pulling 98 pups out of an 8 feet 8-inch Sevengill shark and throwing them back into the ocean off the coast of Barwon Heads in Victoria, Australia.

Orlov said the shark was already dead before he reeled it in, but noticed its stomach was moving so performed the c-section.

He described it as overwhelming and said he got an adrenaline rush.

It is unknown if the baby sharks will survive; their dead mother was later eaten by the fisherman and his family.

Some netizens disagreed with Orlov’s decision to operate on the dead shark, saying he should have left it in the ocean.

Sevengill sharks are under threat because they are regularly hunted for meat for human consumption.
