UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — The body of a Palestinian man killed in Malaysia has been returned to Gaza.
Fadi al-Batsh — a Hamas engineer and university researcher — was shot and killed last week while walking to morning prayers in Kuala Lumpur.
Hamas leaders and relatives met his coffin Thursday, April 26, at the border between Gaza and Egypt.
Thousands then took part in his funeral, where Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh reportedly vowed revenge.
According to The Associated Press, Haniyeh said, “The hand that assassinated the scientist will be severed.”
Al-Batsh’s family blames Israel’s Mossad spy agency, but Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman denies any connection.
Malaysian police, meanwhile, have released facial composites of two men on motorcycles who allegedly shot al-Batsh at least 14 times.
Al-Batsh will be buried Friday in his hometown of Jabalia.
