UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — U.S. President Donald Trump will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on June 12.

The U.S. leader tweeted May 10, “We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!”

Singapore is well known for hosting high-level meetings because of its high degree of order and neutrality.

Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country is pleased to host the event in a statement.

It also said, “We hope this meeting will advance prospects for peace in the Korean Peninsula.”

Trump’s announcement came hours after he welcomed home three U.S. detainees released by North Korea.

The release came during a visit to Pyongyang by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to arrange details of the meeting between Trump and Kim.
