UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — If someone ruined a perfectly good muffin by putting tiny, parasitic, blood-sucking arachnids all over it would you be ticked?

Netizens expressed their indignation over just such an occurrence.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tweeted a picture of a poppyseed muffin May 4.

The caption read, “Ticks can be the size of a poppy seed. Can you spot all 5 ticks in this photo?”

The post was intended to draw awareness to tick-borne illnesses but many Twitter users responded with heartbreak, saying they could never look at a poppyseed muffin the same.

Ticks can carry dangerous pathogens like Lyme disease that they transmit to a host, be it human or animal, through their bites.

The CDC tweeted May 7, “Sorry we ticked some of you off! Don’t let a tick bite ruin your summer.”

It provided a link to information on protecting oneself against the tiny terrors.
