UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — International clothing brand Gap has apologized for a map of China on one of its T-shirts that upset internet users in the country.

The t-shirt was on sale in Canada.

The shirt portrayed a map of China that didn’t adhere to Beijing’s territorial claims, excluding Taiwan and the South China Sea.

The People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party, tweeted a picture of the shirt next to a map that is accurate according to Beijing.

The US clothing brand is the latest international company to find itself in hot water over Chinese territorial issues.

The Chinese government in Beijing considers self-governed Taiwan to be a part of its territory.

China also claims sovereignty over a large portion of territory in the South China Sea, including areas claimed by other countries such as Vietnam and the Philippines.
