UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — U.S. boxer Floyd Mayweather showed why he’s nicknamed money.

The champion boxer headed Forbes list of richest athletes this year pulling down $285 million.

He earned more than twice as much as second place finisher Lionel Messi with his $111 million.

Football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo placed third with $108 million, followed by UFC star Conor McGregor at 99 million.

McGregor made his boxing debut in a loss to Mayweather last year.

Forbes senior editor Kurt Badenhausen said, “Boxing’s biggest night of 2017 helped Mayweather and McGregor earn nearly $400 million combined.”

Badenhausen added basketball players dominated the top 100.

NBA megastar Lebron James, who came in at number six, earned the most of any NBA player raking in $85.5 million.

Golf great Tiger Woods finished at number 16.

Woods, Mayweather and Ronaldo are the only three athletes to make the list the last 18 years.

No female athlete earned a spot, with tennis champion Serena Williams dropping off the list.
