UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Paul Marciano, co-founder of the Guess fashion brand, resigned June 12 following an investigation of sexual harassment claims.
Model Kate Upton prompted the investigation with allegations that Marciano inappropriately groped her as a teen back in 2010.
Two independent investigators interviewed more than 40 people and reviewed roughly 1.5 million pages of documents.
Allegations against Marciano include “inappropriate comments and texts and unwanted advances including kissing and groping.”
Guess said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, that “many of the allegations could not be corroborated” but noted that Marciano did “place himself in situations in which plausible allegations of improper conduct could, and did, arise.”
Marciano reached a non-confidential settlement with five individuals totaling $500,000.
He will remain the company’s chief creative officer until the end of his employment agreement on January 30, 2019.
