United News International (UNI) – Ohio Congressman, Jim Jordan, is denying allegations that he knew about sexual misconduct happening while he was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University — but the men alleging the abuse call him a liar.
Three former Ohio State wrestlers accused Richard Strauss, who was the team doctor at the time, of molesting them. In April, the school announced it had lodged an investigation into the allegations.
Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach for the wrestling team from 1986 to 1994, and the victims allege he knew of Strauss’ misconduct from locker-room gossip or direct reports from wrestlers.
The former wrestlers recently told NBC “it was common knowledge that Strauss showered regularly with the students and inappropriately touched them during appointments.”
One wrestler said he told Jordan about the abuse.
A statement released by Jordan’s office says he “never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him.”
Strauss, meanwhile, committed suicide in 2005.
