UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A bride in Alabama had no problem picking a flower girl for her recent wedding.

Hayden Hatfield knew 3-year-old Skye Savren-McCormick would be perfect for the job.

The two have shared a special connection for the past few years.

In 2016, Hatfield, now Ryals, donated her bone marrow to the toddler who was fighting a rare form of childhood leukemia.

They stayed in touch through letters and phone calls and have become like family.

However, the two had never met in person until the day before the wedding.

The bride described it as “magical and unreal.”

Photographer Jeannie Broadway said there wasn’t a “dry eye in the room” as Skye made her way down the aisle, dropping flower petals to the ground.

Ryals knows she’ll have a lifelong connection to Skye, adding, “In my eyes, she’s the one that saved me.”
