UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A beauty queen gave up her title after a skit mocking the #MeToo movement was performed at the June 30 Miss Massachusetts competition.

Maude Gorman, who was gang raped at the age of 13, announced her resignation as Miss Plymouth County Thursday, July 5 on Instagram.

In her post, Gorman said, “As both a survivor and advocate for victims rights and sexual violence on a whole, I refuse to stand idly by and simply ‘let this go.'”

A video of the skit, reportedly unscripted and unauthorized by the pageant, shows a beauty queen asking a person dressed as God why the Miss America swimsuit competition must come to an end.

The God character, holding a #MeToo sign, said “Me too, Amy.”

The Miss Massachusetts Board of Directors posted an apology on their official Facebook page for the skit.
