United News International (UNI)- Eighty-two-year-old Shridhar Chillal from Pune, India put his nails in the coffin Wednesday, July 11 as he cut off his 66-year-old nails to display them in New York City.

Chillal holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails ever recorded on a single hand.

His longest nail is his thumbnail, which grew to over 77 inches long.

Combined, his nails were over 29 feet long.

Chillal said he started growing his fingernails out of spite when his teacher told him he would never know what it was like to take care of long nails when he was 14-years-old.

He then dedicated his life to taking care of his nails to prove her wrong.

It took a mini circular saw to remove the talons, and they will go on display in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in New York City.
