United News International (UNI)- Wanted businessman Low Taek Jho has reportedly fled Macau Wednesday, July 11 following a request from Malaysian police officials for Low’s arrest.
Low is wanted in Malaysia for his involvement in the state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal.
The fund was created by Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, who was charged with breach of trust and abuse of power for his involvement in the scandal.
U.S. attorneys said Low stole at least $4.5 billion from the 1MDB fund, and Swiss attorneys estimate the total amount is closer to $7 billion in fraud.
Malaysia reportedly has invalidated Low’s passport, but national police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun believes he may have several travel documents.
The global police network Interpol has issued an arrest warrant for Low in the hopes of tracking down his whereabouts.
