UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A CNN correspondent said she was banned from attending an open press event at the White House because of questions she asked President Trump earlier in the day.

Kaitlan Collins and her employer, CNN, said the White House denied Collins access to Trump’s July 25 event with the European Commission president because officials found her earlier questions “inappropriate.”

Collins, a credentialed member of the White House press corps, had asked Trump a series of questions about his former attorney, Michael Cohen.

The White House, however, pushed back on reports that it barred Collins from a press event, saying it supports “a free press.”

According to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House allowed CNN and its photographers and producers to attend the event, but banned Collins because it expects “everyone to be respectful of the presidency and guests at the White House.”
