United News International (UNI) – A heavy rainstorm roared through New York, and the lightning and thunder it brought sent three people to the hospital — all victims of a lightning strike.

Cell phone video captured emergency crews at this soccer field in Queens where two of the men were struck Tuesday night, August 7.

This witness told reporters he heard a “boom” then saw two guys lying flat on the ground.

NBC 4 New York reports one man is in critical condition with burns to much of his body and the other man is in stable condition.

Social media was flooded with video from residents who documented the storm’s flashes.

The storm let loose during the NYPD’s “National Night Out” Against Crime community event which was being held at the same park.

So, witnesses say officers and ambulances got to the men fast.

Meanwhile, a third man four miles away was also struck by lightning.

His injuries are reportedly non-life threatening.
